One Homeland Two States: Overcoming the Walls of Separation - Chaired by Avi Shlaim

"The political solutions for the conflict in Israel - Palestine on offer today have led us to a dead end. The partition to two states seems impossible on practical and moral grounds; it does not resolve key aspects of the conflict and may well be nothing more than a temporary ceasefire. Putting walls of separation only intensifies hatred. The one state solution, on the other hand, does not address the right of both peoples to self-determination, and is politically and internationally unfeasible." - The One Nation Initiative

Awni al-Mashni and Meron Rapoport will present here a new vision, in which Eretz Israel / Palestine is a homeland for two peoples – the Jewish and the Palestinian, and each of them is attached to this land by deep historical, religious and cultural ties. All those who live in this shared homeland should have equal rights to life of liberty, equality and dignity, within the framework of two states, on the 1967 borders. Reconciliation and end to the conflict require a vision of equality within a shared homeland, mutually recognizing and respecting the identity and political rights of both peoples.

Entry to this event will be free to members, and £3 for non-members. As usual, membership will beavaialble to purchase at the event, priced at £10 for a term, £15 for a year, or £20 for life.

The event will be followed by a drinks reception.
