As our final event of term, IR Soc will be inviting Dominic Ziegler to speak, as well as launching the Michaelmas edition of our journal Sir. Dominic Ziegler has been The Economist's Asia editor since 2011, based in London. Before that, he was the founding author of Banyan, The Economist’s weekly column on Asian affairs. He has also been The Economist’s Tokyo bureau chief and, before that, its China correspondent, opening The Economist’s first mainland bureau in Beijing. He did two terms as financial editor and an age ago was the paper’s Washington correspondent. Dominic has just published a book on the Amur River, the longest river most people have never heard of; "Black Dragon River" is out with Penguin Press. He will mainly be discussing issues pertaining to Asia, although wider enquiries about journalism are welcome.
The event will cost £2 for non-members and be FREE for IR Soc members. The event will be followed by a drinks reception, at which we will also celebrate the launch of IR Soc's journal, Sir. This term's edition is on 'Barriers', and there will be copies available.
